Frequently Asked Questions

  • It generally takes between 6-12 weeks from the time your form is received until the first book is delivered. For example, if you submit your form in February, your order will be placed in March and the first book will be mailed in April.

  • Book orders are placed at the end of each month.

  • If you move, your books will not be forwarded to a new address and instead will remain at your local post office. Please change your address by either logging in to the Imagination Library parent portal or contact your local affiliate to help you.

  • The first book all children receive is “The Little Engine That Could”. The month your child turns five years old, they will receive “Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!”. Both versions are customized with messages from Dolly Parton. After receiving “The Little Engine That Could”, each month a new age-appropriate book will be delivered to your child. Download the 2024 Book List or log into the Imagination Library parent portal to see which book you will receive next.

  • Books will arrive on different days. This is because books for each age group are mailed at different times of the month.
